Fruit & veg noveltys
Last Friday me and my mates from Room 5 entered cool A&P show fruit and veg novelty's. They looked absolutely awesome. I thought that the most creative in the class was Austins plane, it was so well thought of that it looked like a real model you would buy from a toy shop. I made a nice sports car with a spoiler on the back and a little man. On the same day we also made decorated biscuits. We made one to enter in the A&P show and we got to eat one. It was so much fun because the whole day we did not have to do any educated learning except for our spelling & basic facts. I made a yellow smiley face with a fringe made out of licorice and jelly beans for eyes. Here is some pictures of them.

Calender art
In room 5 we have been making art for our parents. With our art our parents can order them into calenders, Diaries, or postcards. Here is mine, I hope you like it.
BYOD argument
Here is my argument about Bring Your Own Device/s (BYOD). You see, In room 5 we have been learning to write arguments.

Dear Board of Trustees.
I can not decide whether I am for or against bring your own device (BYOD). BYOD is when children bring their own laptop, ipad, tablet, ipod touch or other to help with learning.
One of the reasons that tempts me to say no is, imagine the anger if an $1000 dollar device got stolen or broken. Teachers would get the blame and that is not good for the teachers reputation. Kids struggle to take care of hats and lunch boxes at school so how are they going to take care of something that is worth a lot more.
However, kids might start having fun learning maths, literacy, or spelling. If this is so they might want to learn more. Therefore, teachers would not have to spend as much money on worksheets, to learn, they could just play a maths game on the ipad along with learning socially with the teacher. More than half of my syndicate, Kahikatea, would like it. Don't you think that shows their confidence?
But, Surely pop ups would make most children uncomfortable and feel frightened. Also, many adults may not trust their children to use a device sensibly and that could lead to tears. Also, if a random person sent you a letter saying “Wanna be friends?” you could easily be tricked into doing all sorts of bad things. Such as giving credit card numbers, phone numbers and gmail passwords.
Over these last few days I have come to conclusion I think we should have BYOD at NCS. For the following reasons BYOD would encourage kids to learn, it would save the school a lot of money and it would prepare kids for the future.
Kind regards,
Jasper

Bridge valley
I really enjoyed going on the water slide and seeing Ed and Ruby fly across the water.
