Q: what is Matariki about and who celebrates it
A:
Matariki celebrates seven stars that come out at a certain time of
year, all though it is a Maori legend kiwis/Europeans celebrate it as
well
Q: What are the names of the Matariki seven stars
A: Matariki,Waiti,Waita,Tupuanuku and Urangi. This group of stars is also called the Paladies.
Q:get the legend of Matariki and write the legend in your own words
A:According
to the legend, Papatuanuku (the land) and Ranginui (the sky) were
separated by one of their children because the children wanted space.
Tane Mahuta (the forest) pushed the sky with his hands and split up the
earth and sky. Another child, Tawhirimatea (the wind), was very sad for
his parents. He cried tears of lightning and threw them up into the sky.
They became the stars of Matariki.
IN MY OWN WORDS: there were two gods. One of the sky and one of the earth. They had seven children. the children were so crammed they pushed their parents apart, send the god of the earth to the earth and the god of the sky to the sky. the brother of the children, the god of the wind, was so furious that he threw the seven children into space and they are the seven Matariki stars
Q:is this story convincing
A:this story is very convincing and it is very well explained.
Q:do the stars have other name and if so what are they?
A: the palaides
